German International School in Tbilisi

A German international school opened in Tbilisi on October 1. German Ambassador to Georgia HE Ortwin Hennig, minister of education of Georgia Dimitri Shashkin, Deputy FM Nino Kalandadze and head of the federal foreign ministry culture and communication department, HE Werner Wnendt attended the opening ceremony. The school provides education starting from kindergarten at the age of 3 including preparatory stage and then a full course of studies in German and Georgian. There are already 20 pupils at the school and the organisers plan to increase this number. Some of the children are from the mixed families of German-Georgian origin. There are children from German families as well as pure Georgian families who are attracted by the broad opportunities provided by the German education system. The speeches delivered by the ambassadors Hennig and Wnendt as well as Minister Shashkin highlighted the importance of such an educational institution for creating new opportunities in the Georgian educational system. The diploma issued at the school will be valid in Georgia as well as in other universities around the world.
